Dumbarton Academy FP AFC was formed in 1911. Ex pupils of the secondary school founded the club, and over the past 100 years, "The Accies" has enjoyed it's success on the park and provided football for many of the town's youth and amateur players.
Presently The Accies run 5 teams, consisting of two amateur and three at youth level, under 21s, u19s and u17s respectively.

Accies home park is the Academy Playing Fields, next to Townend Rd, while parks at The Common, Argyle, Tontine, and Dillichip are used as alternatives.
